I want to start by sharing a quote from Oprah Winfrey that was a mantra for my family growing up - "Education is the key to unlocking the world, a passport to freedom." From an early age, my parents ensured that I understood the value and the impact an education can have on my life. My parents immigrated to the United States and sometimes struggled to provide me with basic needs, but always made sure I had books and school supplies available. They made every effort to attend my school events and made sacrifices to get me into college. I experienced first-hand how access to a great education and learning opportunities can positively impact a child's life. That is why I am dedicated to ensuring that my staff and I provide your child with a high-quality education.
At P.S. 120 we believe that every child is an individual with unique talents and abilities. We believe that all students can succeed in a rigorous academic environment by engaging them through enrichment opportunities. We promote multicultural awareness through social studies and the arts and aim to increase students' understanding of their own culture and appreciation of others'. We prepare our students for a successful future through an innovative curriculum found nowhere else in the world, and our one-of-a-kind labs allow students to work hands-on in the fields of architecture, engineering, and design.
This past year has been incredibly challenging for all of us. COVID-19 changed the way we live, work, and communicate. School lessons ended abruptly, projects were left unfinished, conversations were left unsaid, graduations canceled, and pivotal school experiences transitioned to a screen. Throughout all of it, the PS 120 community persevered. Our students and teachers have shown incredible resilience throughout the pandemic and continued the vital work of teaching and learning remotely, in school, and through a combination of both. I want to reaffirm my commitment to keeping your child safe and minimizing any learning loss.
The school staff and I are always available if you need us, so please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
